St Cleer Primary Academy is set in a beautiful rural location with wonderful views of the Caradon hills. We have excellent school grounds with a large school field and football pitch, an attractive adventure playground, Forest School, gardening and environmental areas. The school even has its own miniature railway!
The school was recognised by Ofsted as an Outstanding School. This is the highest grade awarded by Ofsted inspectors.
All staff at St Cleer Academy have high academic expectations of pupils which are both realistic and challenging. At the same time, we seek to foster each child’s sporting, creative and artistic talents, supporting the curriculum with a vibrant and enjoyable programme of extra-curricular activities. We believe it is important to recognise and celebrate the children’s personal achievements, whether secured in school or elsewhere. To help meet these objectives, the school works in active partnership with parents and continues to build positive relationships with the wider community in which our children live.
We are proud of the work that goes on in this school, and we are keen to share it with you.
The Reception Class, were invited to the Eden Project to take part in a 'Feast of the Senses Workshop.' Once there they explored the outside area of the workshop, looking for plants that matched a piece of coloured card that they each had and they got to smell all the beautiful plants and herbs. Using sticks the children also explored the sounds that they could make on the willow trees and the cobbled stoned pavements. Finally we got to touch lots of chosen plants in order to discuss their texture and use the sense of touch.
Once the workshop had finished the children really enjoyed exploring the Bio Domes and had great fun in the Rain Forest, where they were keen to get wet. It really was a feast for their senses and the children had a fun filled day of learning .
